PROVIDENCE — Louis S. Long, 75, of Lincoln, Rhode Island, died Sept. 15 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. He was born on April 25, 1950, in Providence.
Mr. Long graduated from Hope High School and went on to receive his associate’s degree at the Community College of Rhode Island. He built a long career as a sales representative at Zep, where he worked for many years. Throughout his life, he was recognized as a kind man who loved his family and was known for his genuine smile and curiosity. He had a great appreciation for culture.
He gave generously of his time and talents to the community and to causes important to him. Among the accomplishments that meant the most to him were his service as a member of the Lincoln Water Commission, his volunteer work at the Providence Performing Arts Center, his membership in the Touro Fraternal Association and his role as an elder at the Mishkahn David Messianic Congregation. These commitments reflected both his sense of service and the values by which he lived.
Louis will be remembered with love by his wife, Valerie Long; his daughter, Devorah Leaver, and her husband, Mark, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; two grandchildren; his sister, Roberta Kirschbaum and her husband, Kenny, of Westchester County, New York; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and beloved great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Long, and his mother, Barbara (Finkler) Long.
Louis S. Long will be remembered for his kindness, his devotion and love to family, and his steady commitment to his faith and community. Donations can be made in his memory to the Touro Fraternal Association or the Rhode Island Coalition for Israel.
